Orientation for New Faculty.

"What is the difference between SSRI, ORS, and RCUH?" "What purchases are allowed on a grant?" "Do you need human subjects approval prior to submitting a grant?" These are some of the questions we hear frequently. CSS faculty members will have the opportunity to learn answers to these questions (and more) by attending a new faculty orientation on September 26, 2008, from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm in the SSRI Conference Room.

This informal orientation will introduce new faculty to SSRI and the basic "ins and outs" of the grant application and grant administration process at UH. The orientation includes an opportunity to meet and chat with our fiscal staff, and a brief overview of the "alphabet soup" of grant administration offices and units (e.g., SSRI, ORS, RCUH). We have found that this informal gathering also provides a welcome opportunity for new faculty to learn about one another's research interests and to network and share information with other new faculty.
